Student Instructions

Word Family Jenga

Roll the dice and pull a Jenga block from the pile that matches the color you rolled. Read the word and start a tower with that block. The next player does the same thing and adds it to the tower. Remember, Jenga towers are built three blocks on each floor and then are placed sideways across to create a new layer. When all blocks are in the tower, record yourself pulling the blocks and reading the words until the word family tower falls!

Visit your local dollar tree for Jenga blocks ($1). Divide the Jenga blocks into 6 different groups for 6 different word families. Use the same color permanent marker to write the words from the same word family onto the Jenga blocks. Provide students with a dice that has the same colors you used to mark your Jenna pieces.
