Student Instructions

Imagination is very important in the world of art. A style of art that uses realism (realistic elements) and combines fantasy like aspects is called "surrealism." Salvador Dali's "Persistence of Memory," with melting clocks is a famous surrealistic artwork. Artworks similar to the surrealist style that came out recently is called "Pop Surrealism." Attached are some surrealism landscapes. Notice in the images-what items look realistically drawn, but you know they can't be in real life. Today, I would like you to use your imagination and create a fantasy land artwork similar to the style of surrealism. Be very creative and remember drawing realistic is important. For example, if you had a tree with candy on it, it should look real, but we all know and we could only wish candy did grow on trees. Please save your artwork because the next project relates to this art piece.
