Matter occurs in three states, or forms β solid, liquid, or gas. A change of state occurs when a substance is transformed from one state of matter to another. The state a particular type of matter takes depends on its temperature. For matter to change from one state to another, there must be a change in temperature. Each kind of matter has a particular temperature at which it will change state. The melting point is the temperature in which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid. 1. Create a piece of art by melting crayons. 2. Take a picture of your art. 3. Record a summary of your art and the change in state.
