Measuring Around the House

Measure items around your house in inches. Use a ruler, tape measure or even just a piece of paper! (Remember, the long side of printer paper is 11 in. Use that to make your best guess of how many inches an item is.) 1. Choose 1 object to measure for each of the categories on the chart. 2. Insert a text box to write what you are measuring in the “Item” column. 3. Measure the items and use to tools to write on the chart how many inches long each item is. 4. Convert that measurement to feet and inches and use tools to write your answer in that column. 5. Convert the same measurement to yards and feet and inches and use tools to write your answer in that column. Remember, 12 inches = 1 foot and 3 ft = 1 yd. LOOK AT MY EXAMPLE BEFORE YOU START!
