Health Week: Fruit and Veg Prints

Student Instructions

Develop your food preparation skills by creating exciting prints on paper . Make fun random prints or combine them to create interesting images. While you are working through this activity take photos of each step to show off the different skills you are using First you will need: Fruits (apples, pears, oranges, bananas, lemons) Vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, potatoes, carrots, corn, mushrooms,) paint (for paper) Chopping board Knife Plastic plates or trays Next, Gather fruits and veggies, ideally those that are already past their expiration date. Then clean the fruits and vegetables. Wash and wipe them dry. After that, practise your cutting skills (with an adult) .Potato - slice into quarters, wedges or cut into specific shapes such as a flower or star Carrot - same as potato Mushroom - slice button or any round mushrooms in half Pepper - slice crosswise in half, remove the seeds Broccoli and cauliflower - separate into individual florets Apples and pears - cut lengthwise in half Oranges and lemons - cut crosswise in half Banana - cut in half or cut crosswise into 2-inch long pieces Corn - cut in half and as an option skewer with a stick to make a handle Next, Enjoy using your fruit and veg to make random fruit/veggie prints, overlapping prints and/or a picture. (see pictures below) Finally, once your fruit and veg picture is dry, use a black pen to label the different fruit and veg you have used. Post a picture of your lovely work :)
