Teacher H is out looking at the stars. He sees this shape and he recognises it. He can see it almost all year round and he's sure he has seen it from different places he has travelled. It has 3 bright stars in a row which make this easy to spot. He doesn't know what it is. Can you help him? 1. What do you think it looks like? 2. What is the constellation's name? 3. Can you guess what those 3 bright stars are called? 4. Why does it appear to change position each season? 5. Why does it move across the sky from East to West as it gets later each night? Please help him answer these questions. Thank you for all of your help.
Students should have learnt about stars and constellations before. Main focus: earth's rotation on its axis and it's revolving around the sun.
