Student Instructions

Learning Intention: Identify several characteristics of a good leader for a group. Being a good leader is not as easy as it looks. It good for you as a student, though, to assume a leadership role in classroom activities. Skills such as defining the task, including the opinion of others, assigning tasks, keeping the group on task, etc., that are all important for leadership roles later on in life. This lesson asks you to evaluate the performance of students in leadership roles. Thinking questions: 1. Do you think it is easier to be a leader of a group or a follower? 2. Do you think being the leader means you get to tell everyone else in the group what to do? 3. What if everyone had very different ideas about how to do something? What should the leader do then? 4. What should the leader know about the other people in their group? 5. Why is it good to sometimes have to be the leader? 6. What are the characteristics of a good leader? Directions: Read the leader's comments in the situations and circle the students who are being good leaders.
