Student Instructions

Hi everyone, Click on the link to the left to watch a video about syllables. (Note to parents - you may want to click the settings wheel in the bar at the bottom of the video and change the playback speed to 0.75 to slow the song down a bit. Also, the song practices up to 5 syllables, but we will only do up to 3 today, so you can end the song at 3 if you like). After you watch the video, play this game where we will practice counting and clapping out the syllables in words in the farm category. 1. Click on the plus to open the game. 2. Click on the mic to record your answer. 3. Say the words and clap out the syllables. For example, if you said, "farmer" you would clap for "farm" and "er.” 4. Count each syllable (it can help to use your fingers to count or ask a family member to count your claps). "Farmer" has two syllables. 5. Click on the move then move the number of syllables in the word to the box underneath it. For "farmer," I would choose a 2. 6. Click check when you are finished. Have fun, Mary
