Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This activity helps students decide which customary unit (inch, foot, yard, mile) fits a measurement task and practice converting between those units to solve word problems. Use the five short "Solve It" problems to quickly check student understanding; they mix multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions. The matching and sorting pages reinforce vocabulary and unit-choosing skills. The two open-ended "Show It" pages let students explain thinking with writing or multimedia; these should be graded manually. Prepare rulers (inches and feet) and printable yard/mile comparison visuals for students to reference. For partner work, have students measure classroom objects and record results with a camera or drawing.
