Teachers, save “Holiday Design Challenge: A New Home for…” to assign it to your class.

You received the following letter in the mail. Out of curiosity, you open it and read: Dear Engineers, My name is Mr. Gingerbread. I am in search of a new home. I am looking for a bigger house that is decorated more to my tastes. Elf is my favorite movie! In fact, I love everything with sugar: candy canes, candy corn, marshmallows, licorice. If it has sugar in it, I want it on my house! To be the chosen engineers, you must adhere to the following guidelines: 1. House needs to be built out of cardboard and gingerbread glue. 2. It must fit on a cardboard base that measures 14" x 10". 3. Your design must have at least 4 walls and a roof that protects from the weather. 4. Your decorations must be thoughtfully placed. 5.
