Student Instructions

Rat Island Activity

Each student will randomly receive 1 out of the 6 islands (A-F) and 1 sheet of drawing paper. On the front of the paper students will illustrate their evolved rat and the island (as described on the instruction sheet). On the back of the paper students will identify the 4 physical & 1 behavioral adaptation their rat now has inherited over millions of years living on their assigned island. Students should also explain how these adaptations benefit their rat and allow it to survive on the assigned island. Be sure to write the letter of your assigned island on the BACK of the paper. Be creative (let your imagination flow); these ARE mutations after all and millions of years have gone by on your rat's island :) Upload your finished images to Seesaw: 1) Click on in the Activities tab (on the right) 2) Select your name from the list. 3) Click on to take a picture of the FRONT of your paper. Click 4) Repeat steps 1-3 to take a picture of the BACK of your paper.
