Lesson 2A 1. the activity to your science journal. 2. Today you will make observations about the properties of two of Earth's materials. 3. Use the tool to record observations you make about the materials on the recording sheet. 4. Use the tool to mark a check or an X next to any properties that the two materials have in common. 5. Leave the "make a claim" box blank for this lesson. (Hint: We will use this box for the next lesson!) 6. Click the 7. Submit your work to the correct science folder! Lesson 2B 1. Go back to your post from Lesson 2A and click on the tool. This will let you EDIT your recording sheet. 2. Review your data from the Soil and Sand table. 3. In the bottom text box, make a claim as to why the soil and the sand are mostly similar or different. Be sure to include 2-3 reasons based on your data! 4. Click the to submit your edited recording sheet for approval. 5. Lastly, on 2 classmates' claims!
2A: Students complete the table, but leave the bottom "Make a Claim" box empty for the next lesson. They should mark with a check or X any data that they see that is similar in both materials before submitting their recording sheet. 2B: Teachers will need to make sure they have the student "editing" function enabled for the next science lesson, 2B. (Use the wrench in the top right corner to access the menu.) Students will "edit" their posts using the tool to add their claims at the bottom of the recording sheet. After the Teacher approves students' posts, children may go to 2-3 classmates' journal entries and, using the comment feature (just like with Lesson 1b), agree or disagree with other student claims.
