Student Instructions

We are learning to: Describe materials and investigate their properties. 1. Watch the video about the different types of materials, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnkQcP-RHCw 2. Look around your home and collect some different materials made from each of the following: - Metal (e.g. coin, spoon, can) - Wood (e.g. pencil, pop stick, broom handle) - Wool (e.g. knitted toy, scarf, glove) - Plastic (e.g. bottle, ruler, lid) - Paper (e.g. book, box, tissue) - Rubber (e.g. rubber band, rubber ball, eraser) - Leather (e.g. shoe, wallet, belt) - Fabric (e.g. shirt, tea towel, rag doll) 3. drawing Write the headings in the example on a piece of paper and sort your items into the different materials. 4. add Tap the green add button. 5. photo Take a photo of your material sort. 6. mic Record yourself describing the different materials you collected and their properties, use words like, hard, soft, clear, transparent, smooth, bumpy, brittle, absorbent, rigid, bendy and waterproof. 7. check Tap the green tick to add this to your journal.
