Student Instructions

Students can explore a chemical reaction with basic kitchen materials. You'll need the following materials: - Pan or shallow bowl -cups to place colored vinegar in - Vinegar -Baking soda - Food coloring - Eye dropper or turkey baster What happened when you added vinegar to the baking soda? What colors did you see? 1. Sprinkle baking soda on the pan/bowl (enough to cover the bottom). 2. Pour vinegar into small cups and add three drops of food coloring to the cups (make a variety of colors). 3. Squeeze small drops of colored vinegar onto the vinegar in the pan. Vary the color you choose. 4. Watch the magic rainbows appear!
