This activity includes a retrieval practice or assessment of rhythm patterns. It ends with a rhythm play-along video. The rhythm play-along video is a medley of five fun, Valentine-like songs dating from 1963 to 1996. The rhythms involved are quarter notes, half notes, eighth notes, and quarter and half rests. The play-along ends with a dance break. I was originally going to make the songs date from 1963 to 1976, but one of the original songs I chose was blocked by YouTube copyright policy. Therefore, I replaced it with a very similar song, That Thing You Do! This song was written by Adam Schlesinger for the movie, That Thing You Do! The artists that recorded the song are listed as The Wonders, but that was a fictional group created for the movie, and the only artists I could find listed for this song were Adam and Mike Viola. Adam, unfortunately, passed away in April of 2020 due to covid. The songs included are: Garrett, L., Hardaway, L. M., Wonder, S., Wright, S. (1970). Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours.
