Family Why: Before we were writing, we were telling stories to others and passing down traditions. This is true for children too - they are excited to talk about everything around them and tell stories they have heard. Retelling then allows children to practice this skill by listening first to a story and telling the story again, in their own words, with as many details as they can remember, deepening their comprehension and developing strong language skills in the process.
