Family Why: Numbers are all around us and children are naturally curious about the amount of things they see. They love to comment when there is "so much" or "just a little bit." Counting comes out of this curiosity and can be encouraged by asking them to count everything around you. Sometimes, it's hard to remember the number sequence, so asking our kids to count out loud with us daily supports their learning of numbers.

####Learn more about Seesaw Lessons and how to purchase: [Click here.](https://seesaw.pub/BuyLessons) ####Overview: In this activity from the Block Boards Collection, students aim to leave kindergarten counting orally to 100 and writing their numbers up to 20. This is the first board in a series asking students to practice counting, reading, and writing numbers up to 120. This Block Board asks students to count, read and write numbers as high as they can go and all the way up to 120 if they know how. The activities are open-ended so students can show what they know and show you as their teacher where they will need support next. ####How to Use This Activity: The activities allow students to practice numbers up to 120 but provide room for students who may need more support. Language can be changed to reflect when in the year students are using this board (i.e. remove "up to 120" and allow students to simply count, write, and read numbers to the best of their ability without a constraint). ####Standards: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.NBT.A.1 CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.1.6
