DNA is an important aspect of forensic science. The attached picture is an example of a strand of 4 nucleotides. 1. Label each part. (nitrogen base, sugar, phosphate, codon). 2. Research one mutation or inherited disease from any resource used in the teacher's menu and find the codons that make it up. Create a DNA strand from the Codons found. Example: Let's say you choose Albinism. 1. Research what part of the DNA was mutated. 2. Find the Nitrogen Base Pairs. 3. What are the codons? 4. What are the amino acids? 5. What was changed? Was it an insertion, substitution or deletion? How do you know? 6. Once you find it, create the DNA strand. You can make it however you like, on the computer or with paper and pencil. 7. Write the Codon (the 3 letters) that created the change for Albinism to occur. 8. Write the Amino Acid or Amino Acids (the name given to the codon(s) 9. Submit Assignment
