Fossil Identification

Grades: 3rd Grade
Subjects: Science

Student Instructions

After completing your "fossil dig," examine your find closely. What type of fossil is it? What can we learn from that fossil type? Use the example image to help you organize your thinking about your fossil. 1. Tap the photo button. Take a picture of your fossil. Put it on a clean background so that you can get a good picture of your fossil. Get as close as you can. Tap the check button. 2. Tap the label button. Label your picture with the type of fossil it is. Move the label to a place that makes sense and use the style buttons to make it look nice. Tap the check button. **Remember the three fossil types. Look back in your science notebook if you need help. 3. Try to identify your fossil. What is it? Then, think about what you can learn from your fossil. Rehearse what you will say. 4. Tap the mic button to record your thinking. 5. Tap the check when finished.
