First, watch the BrainPop Jr. video about rocks (Login *belle2* Password *belle*) πŸ’« After watching the video. Get a rock collection! πŸ’« Get a grown-up to take you outside and find some rocks! Don’t forget to be safe! A rock is a solid item made up of minerals. πŸ’« Be a scientist and use your sense to β€œobserve” the rock. Observe means to look at something carefully and to use your senses! BUT Please don’t taste your rock!! πŸ’« Make observations-about your rocks! Make sure you observe all sides, so turn your rock over! How does it feel? Rough/Smooth? some of both? Heavy/ light? Sharp edges? What do you notice by looking at it? Does it have sharp edges? Is it in a shape you notice? What color or colors do you notice? Do you see any patterns on the rock? Holes/bumps/lines noticed? Might there be fossils present? Smell it. Any noticeable odor? Tell someone what you notice and write questions you have about your rocks! That's what scientists do, they ask questions! Questions start with words like what, how, why did, could etc..
