Subjects: Science

Student Instructions

Life cycle is the series of changes in the life of an organism including reproduction. Life cycle goes under two different types : a) complete metamorphosis: refers to change in anatomical (organs, placement of body parts) and physiological(physical appearance) form through a series of life stages. The stages are egg, larva, pupa, and adult. b)incomplete metamorphosis: refers to a change that undergoes only through three stages; egg, nymph and adult. The nymph is basically a small version of the adult insect. This is very similar to how a child looks like his or her parents. Today, we will work with Montessori Mat - Life cycles. We will work with the environment and the organism that goes through the process of life cycle in the area. We will discuss basic organisms' metamorphosis. We will discuss in a collaborative manner about other examples not found in the mat. Page 1. AVID- LEVEL 2- ORGANIZE.You will place each organism life cycle in the correct spot. Page 2. AVID- LEVEL 2- SORT. Sort the different metamorphosis under the correct category, don't forget to sort the definitions as well. Page 3. AVID- LEVEL 3- CREATE/RESEARCH- You will find an example for each type of metamorphosis: incomplete and complete. You will make a diagram of each cycle:label each stage, give a fact about each stage of the organism. Please try your best with the drawing and to color it as well. Take a photo of each one of your metamorphosis in the correct spot.
