"We Planted a Tree" - An Earth Day Read-Aloud, & Art Activity

"We Planted a Tree" is a story written by Diane Muldrow and illustrated by Bob Staake. It is a story about nature, growth, and the power of people working together to help heal the Earth just by planting a tree. You'll be listening to the read-aloud and then on the second slide learn about the famous political activist and Noble Peace Prize Winner, Wangari Maathai who inspired this book. Last, it is time to celebrate Earth Day and learn how to draw a tree with our friends from Art For Kids Hub! 1. Click the add response button. 2. Click on the play button to listen to the story, "We Planted a Tree" written by Diane Muldrow and illustrated by Bob Staake. 3. After, go to slide 2 and learn about Wangari Maathai who planted millions of trees in the country of Kenya. Click on the link to watch the video about her. 4. It is your turn to learn how to draw a beautiful tree! Gather all of your art supplies and click on the link to watch the video of our friends at Art For Kids Hub teaching us how to :draw: draw a tree. Make sure to gather up all of the supplies you need. 5. Take a picture of your artwork and place it in the frame. 6. Click on the green checkmark to upload your work.
