Student Instructions

Sort the objects by if they are living or non living things. Then record the word for the word family picture as well as a drawing of each object into the correct column on your recording sheet. If you did the sort correctly, all of the living objects should have the same word family ending. Take a picture of your recording sheet and record yourself tracking as you read the words from each column and explain what you learned.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Provide students with non-living items like a book, piece of rope, glove, teddy bear, ball, and a water bottle labeled with -op word family pictures. Then use mason jars with holes in the top to collect a beetle, ant, and worm (or contact region 20) for living items. Other living items include a mirror (for ourselves), a potted plant, and a cactus. Label these items with -ug word family pictures.
