Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This quiz checks 3rd graders' ability to identify six types of simple machines, name parts like fulcrum and load, and explain how machines change force or distance. Use the EdHeads Simple Machines interactive as a review before students take the quiz. No special materials are needed for the assessment pages. For the open-ended multimedia task, students will need access to drawing or voice tools (Seesaw or similar). High-quality answers for the paragraph question will correctly name a simple machine, describe how it changes force or distance, and include a real-world example (2–4 sentences). High-quality multimedia/drawing answers will clearly show the machine, label key parts (if possible), and explain in voice or text how it makes work easier. Use a simple correct/incorrect rubric: correct answers show accurate machine identification and a reasonable explanation; incorrect answers show wrong machine identification or an inaccurate explanation.
