Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Within Word Sort 30. This last sort reviews some of the sounds and patterns covered in earlier sorts. All three homophones pairs (hoarse/horse, worn/warn, bore/boar) required discussion to establish their meanings. Sort the words by sounds into three categories: ar, schwa +r, and or. Discuss with students how words with ar are spelled quite regularly while words with the other two sounds are spelled in a variety of ways.
