Grades: 9th Grade, 8th Grade, 10th Grade
Subjects: Math

Student Instructions

Slides 1-8: a) Use the attached and embedded link on each slide to record data from each machine. Record the data on the provided table or map using the pencil, pen or label tools. b) Once you feel you have enough data to make a prediction, use the label tool to record your prediction (Function or not?). Be sure to explain why you made the prediction you did using the mic tool. c) Then, click on the "Test My Hypothesis" link to confirm if your prediction was true. d) Use the move tool to drag the highlight box indicating whether or not your prediction was correct. On slide 9, use the label, pen and/or pencil tools to summarize your conclusions from the activity. On slide 10, it is time for some independent practice. Analyze the data in each relation and determine if it is a function. Use the pencil, pen and label tools to record your justification. When you have finished the activity, click on the check to submit your work.

The machines are random generators so students may end up with different data, but they should have the same final conclusions. Below is the link to the slide deck with all 4 machines. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/2PACX-1vRt6brEU41mBPNuGRCQtH27prL948jdsVS80xklwrOVTQ94PgmsbCDkR-KqogbBhHPdb5sCoTp9VJoQ/pub?start=false&loop=false&delayms=3000
