CCSS: RL.1.1-1.3 , RI.1.1-1.3 (Key Ideas and Details), RL1.4-1.6 and RI1.4-1.6 (Craft and Structure), RL1.7 and RI1.7(Integration of Knowledge and Ideas) RF.1.3 (Phonics and Word Recognition), Literacy Writing 1.1 - 1.2 (Text Types and Purposes), Writing Writing 1.5-1.6 (Production and Distribution of Writing) This provides plenty of voice and choice. Student choose the genre and text and then choose what to write in response to reading. This may be an Activity that you make a series of copies and in the title add Set 1, then on the copy Set 2, and Set 3... so that you can use and repost this as a weekly Reading/Writing task/assignment.
