Reading/Writing Perspective: They All Saw a Cat

Grades: 1st Grade, 2nd Grade
Subjects: English Language Arts, Writing, Reading

Student Instructions

Have you ever wondered if we all see and hear things the same way? Have you ever wondered why some people tell a story differently than you do? Are they wrong? Are they lying? Or could it be something else? Let's read a story to find out about our unique perspective or point of view. 1. Tap the link to listen to this story about a cat as seen by several different animals. 2. Tap add and use drawing tools to show what you see in each picture. Think about whether you could see it another way. Hmmm, is there more than one way to see it? 3. Use the mic to record yourself describing each picture and how you see it. 4. Tap check to review your recording and then check again to post to your journal. I'll share these with the class so we can compare our point of view.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This is an introduction to perspective. Consider using it to build on with future close reading and writing lessons. A few ways to share is to collect student work and post it as a pic collage, a multi-page post to student journal tagging all students or student announcement, upload examples on the Seesaw blog for your class, make an imovie of stills, or upload it into a student gallery/classroom/presentation on Google Slides.
