Standards: Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count; explain the reasoning used. (1.NBT.5.), The numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine tens (and 0 ones). (1.NBT.2.c.)

Instructions for Pupils

add to begin Look at each number frame. move drag a clip to the number that completes the number frame. check to turn in your work ***draft if you need more time to finish

Teacher Notes (not visible to pupils)

Have the students look at the number chart and find the missing number. Students will decide whether they need ten more, ten less, one more, or one less to complete the chart. They will slide a clothes pin onto the missing number that will complete the chart. The last two slides are 3 digit numbers and can be used as challenge slides.
