Student Instructions
Read this article two or three days in a row. By the third day, you should be very accurate and sound very fluent (reading smoothly, like talking).
As this is an information article, there are a lot of subject-specific words (topic words) - be sure to have a go at reading them yourself but if you get stuck someone can tell you what it is.
Click on the first page to begin to read the book.
Read each page to your parent, helper, babysitter, or an older sibling - if you get stuck on a word, try to make the sounds in the word - if you can’t work it out, your helper can tell you the word after you’ve had a try at it.
After you read each page, your helper can ask you the questions at the bottom of each page and talk about those with you.
When you have read the book two or three times, do the activity template (with a recording
) so I can hear how you sound as you read!
OPTIONAL: follow-up: Choose one:
1. What job does your dad (or another significant male you know) do? Tell me about what he does for work. You can write it as a
Note or record a
video telling me your story.
OR 2. There are many types of ship that visit the port. Choose one type and draw your own design. Record a video
to show me your ship and tell me all about it!🛳⛴🚢
