Slipping and Sliding Watch the video clip attached which explains friction. Try some of the following activities. 1. Pick up a few plastic toys how do they feel? Now wet your hands and rub them with soap. Pick up the same few toys, how do they feel now? 2. Go to the park and have a go on the slide. What happens if the slide is wet? What happens if you hold your feet away from the slide? What happens if you put your feet on the slide as you slide down? 3. Walk on different floor surfaces at home, firstly with no socks and then wearing socks. Which floor felt the most slippery and which the least? Did they feel different when wearing socks? 4. Roll a car or other toy with wheels along different floors at home or in the garden, which floor helped the car travel the furthest or fastest? Send a video and use the questions mic to help your child tell us what they found out. Have fun!
