Many moms love flowers. Let's pick some for your mom! 1. Click on the button. 2. Use the tool to pick all the flowers and put them in the vase. 3. Be sure to count as you go. 4. Use a tool to circle the number that matches how many flowers you counted. 5. Do all 10 pages. The 11th page is just for fun. Just arrange a basket of flowers for your mom! 6. Click on the green to post your work to your journal. Be sure to give your mom a hug! ๐ Simplify: * Only have your child do the first 5 pages (numbers 1-5). * Tell your child what the written numbers are, then have them choose which one to circle. * Don't require your child to find the matching written numeral, just count. Or skip counting and just do page 11 together. Extend: * Ask your child "How many?" as they conclude their count on each page. (See standard 4yr.1.6 below.) * Encourage language by having your child describe the flower they're choosing. type, color, long or short stems, few leaves or lots of leaves, etc. * The last page is just for fun, but you could have them count. I think there are 100 flowers on that page. * You also have a great visual for doing addition and subtraction. Take a flower out and ask how many are left, etc. Learning Opportunities: Math 3 yr.1.1: Count to ten by ones. Math 4 yr.1.3: Count a number of objects from 0โ10 and begin to associate them with a written numeral. Math 3 yr.1.4: Begin to name written numerals 0โ5. Math 4 yr.1.5: Use one-to-one correspondence when counting objects to ten. Math 4 yr.1.6: When counting objects to ten, understand that the last number counted in a set tells how many. Math 4 yr.2.1: Understand and represent addition up to five (adding to or putting together) and subtraction (taking from or taking apart) with concrete objects, fingers, movement, and simple drawings.
