The theme of a story is the author's message. Think about what the characters say and do. Use key details to help you find out the theme. After reading the story, "The Castle on Hester Street" use your text to find details in the story that lead you to find the theme, or the author's message. You will work with a partner, but both of you must fill our your own graphic organizer and post it. First, click the add button to get started. I have given you one detail to help you get started. Remember to work through the next details in time order. Use the label tool add a text box for each additional detail and the theme. When you finish, click the check to post your work.
