Santa’s elves need some help and they have asked YOU! They want to reuse and recycle cardboard to make 3D Christmas trees to decorate their work benches AND they want to keep their glue and sticky tape for present making. Can you do this with just cardboard and scissors? You will need ✂️ scissors and some or all of the following: cardboard boxes 📦 that you can cut up, Christmas cards, or other cardboard you can recycle. 1. EXPERIMENT with cutting various shapes from the cardboard and work out how you will fit them together so they stand up and look like a Christmas tree 🎄. Will you have branches or not? What shapes work best? 2. Tap the button INSIDE this activity when you are happy with your tree. 3. Use the tool and the tool to tell us about your work, OR 4. Ask your friend to you showing and explaining your work. 5 Tap the and upload your work.
An optional extra at the end would be to use glitter and sparkly bits to decorate, or the students could simply decorate with drawn decorations or those cut from old Christmas cards. If the trees are flimsy, decorations could be added via photo tool, emojis and drawing. Students who do not celebrate Christmas could make a pine tree or other tree and instead of decorating it, they could add pine cones, gum nuts etc, a bird’s nest and baby birds.
