When teaching encoding and decoding skills, this work mat can be used in addition to paper/pencil activities. This is a great resource that can be used with UFLI or similar resources. Students can see spelling patterns. Also, to give students practice with paper and pencil, have students map the word and then write it on handwriting paper.
