Essential Question: What can I show about different places in my own map of my world? The lesson asks scholars to notice the beauty in the places around them as did the narrator Paj Ntaub in the book and to create a representation of that map inside their heart that author Kao Kalia Yang talks about. WHO CREATED THIS EXTENSION? This lesson was created by the MMSD Advanced Learning Department to provide additional challenge for all students tied to the focal standards for Social Studies at this grade level. โWe believe in the brilliance, creativity, capability and bright futures of Black youth throughout Madison. Our measures of success as a school system must be aimed at more than narrowing gaps โ but focused on cultivating the full potential of every child.โ ~MMSD Strategic Framework Questions and feedback welcome- Kari Augustine kaaugustine@madison.k12.wi.us
