Beginning Persuasive Writing

Today we will start learning about persuasive writing. You will learn to state your view or opinion and give a good reason to support it. 1. Click the add 2. Watch the video on the first page pages to learn about the purpose of persuasive writing. 3. On page pages 3, watch the example video video that will show you how to answer the questions. 4. On the remaining pages pages use the drawing and label to answer the questions by giving us your opinion. 5. When you have finished, click the check to submit your work.

This activity is to assist students who are beginning to write persuasive pieces. The aim, is for students to state their opinion and then give a solid reason to support it. We aim for students to give a convincing reason- that will sway the reader, not simple answers such as 'because I enjoy it. etc. PRIOR to the activity- I often support this activity with a pre-activity where we look at a statement and sort reasons under into 'convincing reasons' and 'not convincing reasons'.
