Student Instructions

Hi artists! Today you will learn about cityscapes in art! What is a Cityscape? It's a picture of a city. You can even call it a "city landscape". We will take a trip around the world and see the cityscapes of many different artists. We will take a look at the kinds of details that they all have in common. We will also look at the work of New York City artist, James Rizzi. He does fun, cartoon-like cityscapes where the buildings have silly faces! That is SO FUN! After we look at all this artwork, you will get a chance to draw your very own Cityscape using your imagination! All you need to do is follow these steps. 1. Watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A10qs1Sb_GY&t=12s 2. After you watch the video, start drawing, in pencil, your own cityscape. (Let your imagination run wild! Will one of your buildings have a dog face? Will there be star patterns on buildings? Will the sky be entirely filled with hearts? These are the kinds of questions you can ask yourself as you make your own decisions as an artist. Slides 2, 3, and 4 have helpful sketches of eyes, noses, and mouths. Feel free to choose the ones you like the best and include them in your Cityscape. 3. When you finish your pencil drawing, pause, take a look at it, and make sure you have detail in all the spaces. When you are done with your work, please take a good pic and upload to the template provided. All of your art teachers know you have done your best, and we love seeing what you always create! Keep it up, artists! Have fun and MAY THE ARTS BE WITH YOU! Mr. Belonio
