Watch the video about adding 2-digit numbers. Click add. Use the shapes to build the numbers on the student template with base ten pieces. Find the total of the base 10 pieces. Use the drawing tool to write the sum in the box. Click the check in the top right corner when you are done.

This activity helps students learn how to add 2 digit numbers and aligns with the common core standards: Grade 2: Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.A.1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.1 Grade 1: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.NBT.C.4 Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten.
