Student Instructions

We use LITRES and MILLILITRES to measure capacity. There are 1000 millilitres in a litre. For this activity you will need: - A measuring jug with a scale in millilitres - Four different sized containers 1- Fill a container with water. 2- Pour the water into the measuring jug. Carefully read the scale on the measuring jug. 3- Repeat steps 1 and 2 with all containers. 4- Line up the containers in order from lowest to highest capacity. Take a photo. photo 5- Label each container with its capacity in millilitres or litres. pencil or label WHAT ABOUT IF ONE OF YOUR CONTAINERS HAS A HIGHER CAPACITY THAN YOUR MEASURING JUG? - Fill the measuring jug to the highest mark on the scale. - Empty the measuring jug. - Pour the rest of the water from the container into the jug. - Add the two measurements together.
