Measure Up! With Non Standard Units

Grades: 2nd Grade
Subjects: Math

Student Instructions

For our math lesson we are exploring measuring with non standard units. Find one nonstandard unit around the house that you can use to measure three items. Some examples could be q tips, toothpicks, spoons, clothespins, blocks, nails, dog biscuits, paper clips, popsicle sticks, glue sticks, etc... Then you need to find three items and use your nonstandard unit to measure the length. Take pictures and record your findings on the templates provided. Each object goes on a different page, note the picture attached is meant to be an example of how to measure and line up the non standard unit accurately.
