Student Instructions

Select a page from the book, The Inheritance, that has no words. Identify the mood and emotions of the picture. Describe what is happening in the scene. Write one of the following styles of poems that describe the scene from your chosen picture (open the example to find the rules for each style of poem): Free verse, Cinquain, Quatrain, Haiku Select your page from the slides and record yourself reading your poem over your chosen picture. Think about your intonation, tone of voice, pace and expression. Learning Intention: To be able to use poetry to describe an event and express an emotion. Success Criteria: I can follow the rules for different poetry genres. I can identify emotions within a picture. I can experiment with expression and pace when recording my poem to achieve a desired effect.
