Book Snap Scavenger Hunt: Finding Closed Syllable Exceptions!

Grades: 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade
Subjects: English Language Arts, Multilingual Learners, Reading

Student Instructions

In your book, find a page of text where you can see at least one example of a base word that has a closed syllable exception! 1. add 2. upload your photo of the page with the closed syllable exception. 3. Use the drawing and circle the closed syllable exception(s). 4. mic yourself reading the page of text in your photo. 5. Click check to submit!

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

I always have my students take their photos with their device first so that it is saved in their camera roll. That way, if there's an issue or a problem, we can always go back and retrieve the photo. Whereas, if the kids use the camera tool, if/when there's a problem or we need to delete the photo for some reason, we have to go through the whole picture-taking process all over again. The less time we spend taking photos, the more time we have to spend on discussing what is IN the photos. :)
