Today we'll be looking at how to use mentor poems to write our own! Lesson outline: 30 minutes: 1. Listen to the mini-lesson (5 minutes). 2. Read through the mentor poems on the last 4 slides and pick one or two to use (5 minutes). 2. In your writing notebook (or a blank notebook), use mentor texts to help you write your own poems. If you finish one, try another one, or use the same mentor text but write a different poem using a different strategy! (20 minutes) 3. Take a picture of your favourite poem you wrote today. 4. Add a written or video caption explaining what mentor poem you used and what strategy you used to write. 5. Upload the picture and caption to this Seesaw Activity.
