To extend this lesson there are many stories about Maui in New Zealand Maori culture. How Maui Discovered NZ and How Maui Slowed the Sun are two very popular ones that are brought up in Moana as well. He has tattoos for both. I use these art activities as part of a morning work rotation to help students transition into school. Since doing these activities on a weekly basis we have seen great improvement in their fine motor skills. We are also seeing them translate the skills picked up in these lessons to drawings of their own. I hope you enjoy.
