Student Instructions
The purpose of this activity is to learn how NASA engineers land rovers on Mars. You are going to build a parachute to land a rover on Mars. Your challenge is to build a parachute that will allow your rover to land safely on Mars (without breaking or losing parts).
1. Click the link to watch the videos (slides 1 and 2).
2. Build a parachute to attach to your rover.
3. Build a rover with Lego's.
4. Take a of your rover and parachute.
5. Take a
of you testing your parachute.
6. Improve your rover and/or parachute.
7. Take a
of your improved rover and parachute.
8. Take a
of you testing your improved rover/parachute.
9. Repeat this process until you are successful.
10. Use your photos and videos in Shadow Puppet. Explain your original rover/parachute, your improved rover/parachute, the results of your tests, and the purpose of this activity. Save the video into your camera roll.
