Student Instructions

What is a contraction again?? When you combine two words together, and remove letters, and then replace the missing letters with an apostrophe it forms a contraction. You are going to be a doctor for this activity. Fill-in your dr. name badge. Look at each patient's record carefully. You will notice that each patient's x-ray has two words. Your job as a doctor, is to remove the correct letters to form a contraction. Use the band-aids to cover the letters that need to be removed. You will fill-out every patients record as you perform surgery. After each surgery you perform, you will record the letters you removed (or covered carefully with a band-aid), the contraction you made, and a then write a prescription (a complete sentence) for each patient.
