An inference is a logical guess that you create in your mind by using clues and what you already know (schema or background knowledge). We make inferences all the time, and especially when we read.
Let's explore more about making inferences!

2. After watching the video, click 
to start the activity.
3. Complete the notes on pages 1, 2, and 3 to review how to make an inference.
4. Then, let's practice putting our new inferencing skills to use! Read the poem on page 4. Use the 
tool to complete the graphic organizer. Use the poem to help you!
5. When you think you know what the mystery item is in the poem, type it in the middle of the organizer.
6. Is your inference correct? To find out, go to last page. Use the 
tool to build the puzzle and find the answer.
7. Select
