Student Instructions
1. Tap the button. 2. Choose the tool and choose a color. 3. Each box equals one beat. Listen to the teacher play the rhythm. 4. If you hear one sound on the beat, draw a line in the box; if you hear two sounds on the beat, draw two dots in the box. 5. After you've listened to all four rhythms, tap the button twice.
Teachers, create 4 rhythms using a combination of quarter notes and eighth notes (you may want to write them down for reference later). Using a hand drum or other readily available instrument, play each rhythm at least twice, allowing time for your students to dictate the rhythm they hear using a horizontal line to symbolize a quarter note and two dots to symbolize a pair of eighth notes.
