El Jeungo Chirimbolo, Part One

Grades: 4th Grade
Subjects: Music

Student Instructions

1.Listen to me sing El Jeungo Chirimbolo. I will sing it with the words, and then with solfege, but there is a mystery pitch you haven't learned yet. Listen CAREFULLY. 2. Look at the Music Street picture I have added. I have the solfege names I sung uncovered, but there is one that is still covered. Notice where they are all together, and where there is a house for sale that is still covered. 3. When you are ready, get a partner. Ask the substitute for the two cards and a question mark. The cards is the solfege I just sang, but on a staff. Notice which card goes first and put the cards in the right order. Then compare how the solfege words on the staff on the cards are in step order and where the mystery pitch might go. Put the question mark on the line or space where you think the mystery pitch goes. Use the camera feature to take a picture of it. BOTH partners need to take a picture. 4. When you finish that, go to Activity 2.
